Clusters: The Card Game For 3 to 8 people Goal: The goal of the game is to accomplish the most objectives in 15 rounds of play. Setup: To set up, play the top 20 cards of the deck face down in play, in four rows of 5 each. This is the resource pool (cards in it are referred to as "Resources"). Each player then draws 4 cards. Flip over the first resource(the upper left card of the resource pool). Randomly determine someone to be "first". Cards: Each card has 2 parts: the resource and the play effect. Rounds: First, all players choose an objective (see "Objectives" below). Then, starting with objective 1 and going to 10, the player with that objective takes their turn. During their turn, each player may play one card from their hand, using its play effect (this card is sent to the discard pile). Then, they may resources according to the chart below (face up to face down, or vice versa); see "Cards flipped(1)" below. If the face-up resources satisfy that player's objective, they gain a point. Otherwise, they may place the top card of the resource pile face-up in the resource pool after the last card in the pool (starting a new row if necessary) and check their objective against this modified pool. If their objective is now satisfied, they gain a point. Otherwise, they have failed their objective and play passes to the next player. After objective 10 has been attempted, discard cards from the resource pool until there are exactly 20 cards there, starting from the first (in the upper left). Each player that failed their objective may flip resources according to the chart below (face up to face down, or vice versa); see "Cards flipped(2)" below. Each player then draws a card, discards down to 4 (if they have more than 4 cards in their hand), and a new round begins. The player who failed the highest numbered objective (or, if none, who passed the highest numbered objective) is "first" for the next round. Objectives: At the beginning of each round, the "first" player looks through all 10 objectives, chooses one for themselves, and passes N (where N is the number of players) to their right. Each player in turn chooses an objective until the last remaining objective returns to the first player (who sets it and the ones not originally passed aside for this round). Keep your objective hidden until it is time for you to play. These are numbered from 1 to 10 denoting difficulty as well as turn order. Lower-numbered objectives are simpler to complete, but more difficult objectives are attempted later with a wider range of resources. Cards flipped: (1) is during your turn (2) is at the end of a round, if you failed your objective Players Cards flipped(1) Cards flipped(2) 3 4 5 4 4 5 5 3 4 6 3 4 7 2 3 8 2 3 Ties: If, after 15 rounds, there is a tie in number of accomplished objectives, all tied players continue attempting objectives (playing more rounds). Once a player fails an objective, they are eliminated until only one player remains. Foo: -If you run out of cards in the deck, shuffle the discard pile into a new deck and continue. -You may not discard if it would bring your handsize to 0. -Note that the "first" player for a round might not be the person with objective #1. "First" is simply used to denote the player who gets first pick at objectives. -The effect "During the next round, you may redraw your objective once." means that, after everyone has chosen an objective, you may choose to randomly draw a new objective from the pile of unused objectives. -The effect "Replace a resource with a card in your hand (face down)." means that you swap any in-play resource with one in your hand. The one from your hand gets played face down in the same position as the previous. The old one gets added to your hand.
