The Software Card Game Goal: Complete the most tasks. Setup: Split up the three decks of Person cards, Task cards, and Event cards, and shuffle each. Deal each player a starting hand of 5 People and one Event. Reveal the top Task card. Starting from a randomly chosen "first" player and going clockwise, players bid cards from their hand to start the game. The player who bids the most cards starts. All players discard all bid cards. (In the case of a tie, the tied player closest to the "first" player starts the game.) Turn: You begin your turn by drawing one card from the Person pile. You may then do exactly one of the following (your "action"): 1) Draw up to two additional Person cards. 2) Purchase and/or play an Event (see below). 3) Play up to two Groups (see below). 4) Discard one of your Groups. Afterward, you may complete the current Task if you can meet its requirements (see below). If you do, place the completed Task in your score pile and flip over the top Task. Either way, play proceeds clockwise. Victory: The game ends when the Tasks deck is empty. The player who has the most completed Tasks in their score pile wins the game. Playing Groups: A "Group" consists of two or more Person cards, and provides one of the four skills (Dev, QA, UE, and Other). The amount provided (proficiency) is equal to the sum of that skill between all cards in the group. To play a group, reveal two or more Person cards and announce which of the skills they will be providing. Play them in a stack in front of you, with the side of the chosen skill pointing toward you. You may also choose to play a group for two adjacent skills if both skills are equally strong. Play the Person cards in a stack in front of you, with the corner adjacent to the desired two skills pointing toward you. You may only have 5 groups in play. Purchasing Events: During your turn, you may purchase an Event card. Each Event card costs an Other skill group of proficiency 5 or greater. Discard the group and draw the top Event card. Completing Tasks: At the end of your turn, you may complete a task by discarding group(s) meeting the required proficiencies (next to "Complete"). When you complete a task, you place the task in your score pile, and it counts toward eventual victory. Additionally, when a task is completed, all other players must meet the minimum requirements (next to "Sustain"). If they cannot, they suffer the penalty as described on the card.
